The Adelaide Hills is our source for Chardonnay. A narrow band of country running north to south through the Mount Lofty Ranges east of Adelaide, it is one of the largest wine regions in Australia and among the most varied — climate, soil and topography shifting markedly across it, with the highest vineyards planted above 600 metres. That combination of altitude and variation is what makes it worth working site by site. Two vineyards a short drive apart can give quite different wine from the same variety.

Sitting at the northern edge of the Adelaide Hills, Kenton Valley catches cool air from the ranges and morning mists that slow ripening and preserve natural acidity. The site has become one of the most consistent sources of fine Chardonnay in South Australia.
Subregion
North of Gumeracha in the valleys of the central Adelaide Hills, Forreston is one of the region's quieter corners — a handful of vineyards set among orchards and grazing country, well away from the busier end of the Hills. The long growing season lets flavour build slowly while the fruit holds its line, and the few who plant here do so because the site earns it.
