What does "single vineyard" actually mean?

Every wine we make comes from one vineyard, and is labelled for that vineyard and nothing else. No blending across sites, no house style applied over the top. If a wine says Jericho on the label, all of the fruit came from the Jericho Family Vineyard.

The point is that the differences between our wines come from the ground — soil, elevation, aspect, vine age — rather than from anything done in the winery. More on the approach.

Where are your vineyards, and what do you grow?

Our vineyards sit across two South Australian regions:

  • McLaren Vale — Grenache, from Blewitt Springs and Seaview. Jericho Family Vineyard, Douglas Gully, Trott and Romano.
  • Adelaide Hills — Chardonnay, from Kenton Valley and Forreston. Bowyer Ridge and Lansdowne.

Each vineyard has its own page with elevation, soil type, planting date and who grows it.

Do you have a cellar door?

No. We don't run open cellar door hours. Tastings are by appointment, in small groups, with one of us — see Tastings below.

Who makes the wine?

Pare is the work of two founders, Ansel Ashby and Andrew Williams. Between them they handle every part of it, from choosing the sites to getting bottles out the door — so if you email us, you're emailing one of them.

Shipping

How much is shipping?

Order sizeRate
1–3 bottles$15
4–6 bottles$20
7–11 bottles$25

Wine Club shipments always include shipping, whatever the tier.

How long will my order take to arrive?

Orders are usually dispatched the next business day after payment. From dispatch:

DestinationEstimate
South Australia (metro)1–2 business days
Victoria, NSW, ACT, QLD (metro)3–5 business days
Western Australia, NT5–8 business days
Tasmania5–8 business days
Rural and remoteAllow extra time

These are estimates, not guarantees. Christmas and Easter are slower for everyone. Full detail on the Shipping page.

Do I need to be home to accept the delivery?

Yes. Australian law requires alcohol deliveries to be received by someone aged 18 or over, and they cannot be left unattended. Every delivery needs a signature.

If nobody is there, the carrier leaves a card with instructions for re-delivery or depot collection. Repeat attempts may attract a re-delivery fee, so it's worth sending your order somewhere there'll be an adult during the day — a workplace address is fine.

What time of day do you deliver?

Between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. We don't deliver on weekends or public holidays.

Alcohol deliveries are also limited by the hours permitted under liquor licensing law in the state or territory receiving them. In South Australia that's 8am to 10pm, so our window sits well inside it.

Will the wine be alright in the heat?

We pack carefully, but transit isn't climate controlled and an Australian summer is an Australian summer. The risk is the last stretch — a carton sitting in the sun on a doorstep does more damage than the truck ever will.

If your address gets hot and there won't be anyone home, send it somewhere shaded or attended instead. If you're unsure, email us before you order and we'll work something out.

Do you ship overseas?

Not through the website — we deliver within Australia only. If you're ordering from overseas, get in touch and we'll see what's possible.

Tastings

How do I book a tasting?

Through the Tastings page. Tell us roughly when suits and how many of you there'll be, and we'll come back to confirm. Bookings are by appointment and subject to availability.

What happens at a tasting, and what does it cost?

A seated tasting through the current range — Chardonnay from the Adelaide Hills, Grenache from McLaren Vale — with either Ansel or Andrew. We talk through the vineyards, the vintages and what makes each site different.

$25 per person. Groups of up to six.

Can I bring a bigger group?

Ask us. Six is the standard limit because small groups are the point, but if you have a larger group or something specific in mind, say so on the booking form and we'll tell you honestly whether we can do it well.

Wine Club

How often do shipments come, and what do they cost?

Once a year. There are three tiers — Dunes (Grenache), Hills (Chardonnay) and Dunes & Hills (both) — and you can take a single or double quantity of any of them. Shipping is included in every tier.

Your first shipment is the current release and goes out straight away, rather than making you wait for the next cycle. Prices are on the Wine Club page.

What do members actually get?

  • 10% off anything you buy from the site, on top of the shipment.
  • Early allocation — your wines are set aside before the public release, so you're not shut out of a vintage.
  • A complimentary tasting each year, for you and up to five others. No expiry.
  • Members-only wines — some releases are small enough that they never go on general sale.
  • First access to back vintages, magnums and other formats.
  • Invitations to cellar tastings, harvest visits and the occasional dinner.

Can I cancel, or change my tier?

Yes, any time, and there's no contract. Email us at info@parewine.com.au, or use Manage your membership to change tier, pause or cancel yourself.

The one timing rule: a cancellation has to reach us before a shipment is processed to apply to that shipment. Once a shipment is dispatched it can't be pulled back.

How do I get into the membership portal?

Go to Members and enter the email address on your membership. We'll email you a sign-in link that works for fifteen minutes. There's no password to remember or lose.

If the link doesn't arrive, check the address matches the one you joined with — that's almost always what it is.

I've moved. How do I update my address?

Email us before your next shipment is processed. We can't redirect a parcel once it's been dispatched, and an undeliverable shipment may attract a re-delivery charge — so it's worth doing early rather than at the last minute.

Orders

A bottle was faulty or corked. What now?

Tell us within 7 days of receiving it — email info@parewine.com.au with your order number, what's wrong, and a photo if the problem is visible. We'll arrange a replacement or a refund.

That covers corked, oxidised, damaged in transit, or otherwise defective. It doesn't cover change of mind: wine is perishable and we can't resell a bottle once it's left us. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law aren't affected by any of this.

Can I change or cancel an order after placing it?

Email us as soon as you can. If it hasn't been dispatched we can usually sort it out. Once it's with the carrier we can't recall or redirect it.

How do payments work, and is my card safe?

Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe and are never stored on our site or seen by us.

All prices are in Australian dollars and include GST.

A wine says "club members only" — can I buy it?

Some releases are small enough that they go to members and nobody else. If you're already a member, enter your membership email on the wine and it'll unlock. If you're not, joining is the way in.

A wine I want is sold out. Will it come back?

That vintage, no — quantities are small and once a wine is gone it's gone. The next vintage of the same vineyard will come, and members get first call on it. If there's a particular site you're waiting on, email us and we'll let you know when it lands.
